A while back, I had the privilege of working for a developer called Cracked Glass Games, headed by a very talented programmer, on a Source Engine game called Tension. That mod was unfortunately never completed due to real life getting in the way (it was very much a labor of love and we weren’t being paid for it), but it left me with a lot of cool-looking work to show off.
I worked on that project as the head mapper and environment artist, which included creating assets for the game world. One set of assets I created was this set of advertisements for various branches of a fictional corporation simply called “Tek.” According to the game’s lore, they provided the citizens of ocean-based cities in the Pacific with various amenities including water, gas, and botanical goods. The Tek logo comes from the shape of the Japanese kanji for water ( 水 ). I’m pretty sure the Japanese is correct, though if someone with a better grasp of the language spots an error please let me know!
These icons were all created in Adobe Illustrator CC. The maps were created in Valve’s Hammer editor for the Source Engine. All the textures in these maps are original work created in Photoshop, but the models are stock assets.
